About our studio

Our History

In 2000 Mike began providing drafting services to remodel builders in the Southwest Washington.   Things progressed from there to designing homes in the Columbia Gorge and other beautiful sites in the region.  Having worked in construction trades he found that an intuitive approach to people and art were tremendous assets to finding creative ways to design homes.

In 2004 Blondino Design was founded focusing on highly challenging and custom designs.   Our work has been showcased in 2006-2012 Clark County Parades of Homes.  Entering the Portland scene, we were privileged to design the “Sandhill Crain” in the 2015 Portland Street of Dreams, and the “La Dolce Vida” in 2016 Street of Dreams.

In 2018, we resumed our design work in the Parade of Homes with “The Maker” and the “The Black Pearl” built by Soaring Eagle Homes, and “The Arcadia” by Axiom.

Our primary aspiration is to create homes of distinction and bring years of joy to the people we serve.

Our Team

MIKE BLONDINO

Mike grew up in the greater Seattle area.  He is a bi-vocational pastor, in Southwest Washington, and the founder of Blondino Design, Inc.

His quest for knowledge began at a very early age; cooking at the age of 5, learning to play piano by ear at the age of 7, and designing his first home at 10.  His mother and father would routinely find him deconstructing things and rebuilding them from instruments to animal bones.  As a conceptual learner he found meaning in artistic expression through observation of purpose, history, form and balance.

Mike graduated from Auburn High School, and earned BA with honors from Northwest University in Biblical Literature, with minors in Cross Cultural Communication and New Testament Greek.

In the course of his pastorate, he founded and directed LEAD International, a non-profit geared towards helping people improve their lives through small business creation in some of the poorest countries in Africa.   Through LEAD International, he and those he served worked together to create 40 cashew processing companies, farmer associations, and government/private partnerships.  All were owned and operated by indigenous entrepreneurs.  He has worked in both Senegal and Guinea-Bissau.

He and the love of his life, Holly, who works in Behavioral Health management at PeaceHealth, have four amazing children.  Mike is a cinema buff often quoting lines from his favorite movies.    He is a bigtime Seahawks fan and loves connecting with other “12th man” fans!

Above all, Mike has a vibrant and practical faith in Christ that inspires his love for people, and a desire to them in their quest for personal growth and knowledge.  He appreciates challenging situations and sees his final reliance on the Great Architect for inspiration and overcoming challenging constraints.

LACEY BLONDINO

Lacey is a graduate of Camas High School, and has her AA from Clark College.  She has always lived and breathed architecture.  Lacey is an artist of amazing capacity.  If you spend time with her you’ll find her sketching doodles, humorous cartoons, or anything she happens to be imagining at the moment.

She’s just finished writing her first fantasy epic and is now working on her second book.

Lacey started her design prowess creating homes in Sims and Minecraft at an early age.  She’s worked with Blondino Design since 2011 and has fully designed numerous homes.  Her input in the design team is creative and highly detail oriented.

Lacey brings a level of humor and irony to everything she does.  She loves modern architecture and the stories of people who have created unique homes.

LIVINGSTON AND NALA

If you’re fortunate enough to see them, Livingston and Nala are the unpretentious mascots of Blondino Design.   They provide regular distractions from design work, and moments of affection, noise and play time. When we work, inevitably these two are somewhere in the room snoring!  If you happen to not appreciate feline family members they will be sequestered. They might not like it, but we run a tight ship.
