Designing homes of distinction

OUR WORK

Blondino Design is a collaborative and innovative residential design team, creating homes, distinctive in beauty and livability.  Our homes reflect unmistakable intentionality and a diverse, nearly unlimited, use traditional and contemporary architectural styles.

Though our works been featured in publications, and in Street of Dreams and Parade of Homes events, our highest priority is to create intuitive, livable and satisfying homes to reflect our client’s lifestyle and needs.  Trust is the greatest compliment and we strive to earn it.

OUR PROCESS

Our team can handle the entire design process, from an idea and concept development to the completed design and construction documents. We constantly research varied designs styles, research best practices, apply new concepts for sustainability and efficiency, as well as remain current on innovations, ultimately harmonizing them within our home plans.

All our projects are a collaboration between the individuality of our clients and the collaborative creative process with our team.  Purpose gives meaning to a home. That purpose naturally comes from how our clients live. Our main goal is to help them realize a “perfect home” as they define it.

The process of design can be elusive.  Defining the objectives is an ongoing process.  Choosing between ideas requires access to information and options.  This process repeats itself again and again, from the moment a site is reviewed, through the arrangement of the home, to the final selection of window operations and exterior features.  We develop these options as a fundamental component of our process.

Collaboration requires an open communication process and an openness to different and often competing ideas.  We don’t pretend to play referee between two loud voices. Frankly, some people are just not wired to collaborate well with others. However, in our experience, inevitably more ideas can dramatically improve a design.  In the same way that someone might get trapped in miscalculating a math problem, other input gives us a moment to step away from our approach.  Builders, interior designers, landscape and pool designers, can all bring helpful information to a team approach.  And in the end, team work is the best way to succeed.

Obstacles and constraints exist on virtually every site and in every project.  The process of overcoming, mitigating or utilizing inherent constraints has to be one of the most exhilarating aspects of what we do.  Steep slopes, narrow lots, confusing height restrictions, conflicting objectives, organizing around features shared by multiple floors such as stairs and elevators are some of the more common challenges.   Addressing design challenges boldly is one of the requisite skills for any capable design team.

While aspects organization are expressed throughout the design process, some of the most valuable efforts occur downstream, in the structural integration process.  Forward thinking design influences how drawings are ultimately created and the amount of detail necessary.  In the end there is a balance between what is essential and what is helpful.  Our goal is to think ahead of what questions will be asked, and to provide information in an intuitive and informative final product.
